SWAT: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has claimed that a final agreement on the draft for negotiations could not be reached due to what he described as the government’s lack of seriousness.
Speaking to the media in Swat, Barrister Gohar said the opposition had proposed a meeting between the opposition leader and the prime minister, along with a joint strategy among all four provinces to counter terrorism. However, he claimed that the government had not agreed to any of the proposals.
The PTI chairman said that if the government was sincere about negotiations, it should facilitate a meeting with PTI founder Imran Khan. He also made it clear that the long march had not been called off and that the party considered peaceful protest its right.
Barrister Gohar called on the federal government to stop interfering in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, saying that terrorism could not be eliminated through governor’s rule or the imposition of an emergency.
He further claimed that PTI had received 20 million votes in Punjab but its mandate had been stolen. He said 76 members of the National Assembly, 25 senators, and 197 members of the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assemblies would boycott proceedings.
