KARACHI: Significant progress has been reported in the investigation into the murder of young businessman Mir Raza, with investigators deciding to summon 10 people for questioning over the victim’s financial affairs and outstanding loans.
According to sources, the investigation team has prepared a list of 10 individuals who will be questioned regarding their financial dealings with Mir Raza, particularly loans allegedly taken by the deceased.
Investigative sources said details of the loans involving the individuals on the list have also been obtained. According to the information gathered so far, Mir Raza had allegedly borrowed Rs17.5 million from a person identified as Abid and Rs500,000 from another individual identified as Mouni.
Sources said records of loans exceeding Rs50 million obtained from a total of 10 individuals have been compiled. The concerned individuals will be summoned for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation.
Meanwhile, Sindh Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho has already acknowledged shortcomings by various departments during the initial investigation into the Mir Raza case.
The IG said efforts were underway to address the lapses identified at different levels, including those involving the medico-legal officer, while the investigation continues in light of the detailed report submitted by the medical board.
