Lahore: Jamaat-e-Islami Chief Hafiz Naeem Rejects Impact of PM’s Fuel Relief Scheme on Levy Campaign

Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan chief Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman has reacted to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s scheme concerning petroleum product prices.

In a statement, Hafiz Naeem said the government was compelled to offer Rs100-per-litre relief due to Jamaat-e-Islami’s struggle, adding that the party would examine the proposal for motorcycles, rickshaws, and small cars.

He said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s scheme would not affect the party’s campaign against the petroleum levy. He added that the long march and sit-ins would continue until the levy was completely abolished.

The Jamaat-e-Islami chief said he would review the prime minister’s scheme and announce the party’s position later tonight.
