LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Tuesday set aside suspension of 18 PMLN Members of Punjab Assembly, allowing them to not only attend session, but if needed, cast votes.

A two-judge bench headed by Justice Shahid Bilal Hassan was approached by lawyer representing 18 suspended PMLN MPAs, saying that in the wake of no-trust move tabled in the Punjab Assembly, these MPAs might not be allowed to cast their vote. He requested the LHC to issue order, on which the LHC had reserved judgement which was later announced, allowing them to not only attend the session but if needed, to cast votes.

In October, it may be recalled, Speaker PA Mohammad Sibtain Khan has suspended the membership of 18 opposition members belonging to the PML-N for creating ruckus when Usman Buzdar was moving a resolution during Saturday’s session to condemn the ECP for disqualifying PTI Chairman Imran Khan in the Toshakhana case.

These members have been accused of creating ruckus and chanting slogans to disrupt the Assembly proceedings, surrounding speaker’s dais and raised slogans against the PTI chairman Imran Khan.

The affected legislators included Zeeshan Rafiq, Uzma Bukhari, Samiullah Khan, Mian Abdur Rauf, Malik Waheed, Saba Sadiq, Rabia Nusrat, Rabia Naseem Farooqi, Rahila Naeem, Zaibun Nisa Awan, Kanwal Pervaiz, Gulnaz Shahzadi, Nafisa Amin, Rana Afzal, Ali Bukhsh Chattha, Sadia Nadeem, Rahat Afza and Sumbul Malik.
