LAHORE: Police have arrested a female suspect, also believed to be a TikToker, in connection with the murder of former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf ticket holder Abdullah Tahir from Sialkot and shifted her to Lahore, police sources said on Saturday.

This is said to be the first major arrest in the case since the PTI leader was gunned down a few days ago in Lahore.

According to initial reports gathered by MM News, Abdullah Tahir was on his way for a routine medical check-up from his Gulberg residence when unidentified motorcyclists opened fire on his vehicle. He was critically injured and later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Giving details of the latest development, police said the arrested woman is allegedly a friend of one of the shooters and had allegedly honey-trapped Abdullah Tahir’s driver to facilitate the murder. According to police, the accused has allegedly been involved in similar honey-trap cases before.

Police have also identified three accused allegedly involved in the targeted killing. The three have been identified as Arsalan Jatt, Sikandar and Zeeshan.

As per the investigation, accused Arsalan Jatt allegedly brought the two shooters to Lahore in a car, while Sikandar and Zeeshan allegedly entered the clinic and shot Abdullah Tahir dead.

Police said the main accused and the two shooters have fled to Waziristan. A team of the Crime Control Department [CCD] is currently in Waziristan to arrest them.

The arrest comes days after police sources had revealed a sensational motive behind the murder, linking it to a dispute over a sand contract in Narowal.

According to police sources, US-based suspect Zaman Kogi Butt had allegedly forbidden Abdullah Tahir from obtaining the contract, and after Tahir secured it, allegedly got him killed through hired shooters. Police had said a red warrant is being sought for the US-based accused.

Police say further investigation is underway and more arrests are expected soon.
