LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) continued their consultations for the second day today to weigh options for averting possible dissolution of Punjab Assembly.

Talking to media after their joint sitting, PMLN leader Ata Tarar and PPP’s Hassan Murtaza said they were fully prepared to launch move after Imran Khan’s announcement to dissolve Punjab and KP assemblies.

Ata Tarar said PPP team met with Hamza Shehbaz today, and claimed that several ruling party members from Punjab were in contact with their party. He said several legal options were discussed in today’s meeting, and their party wanted not to rob the public mandate (in Punjab), and that the assemblies should complete their tenure.

Hassan Murtaza said Asif Zardari was a democratic figure and believed in resolving issues through dialogues. He said today’s meeting had reached some decisive steps but remained short of sharing the same with media. He said whatever the decision would be taken, would be announced publicly. He further said that it was for the first time that the government (in Punjab) wanted to run away while the opposition wanted it to stay in power.
