LAHORE: The Speaker of Punjab Assembly Sibtain Khan on Tuesday termed the orders of Governor Punjab, Baleeghur Rahman, summoning the session of provincial assembly to face no-trust move against CM Pervaiz Elahi as illegal.

His comments came within hours after Governor Punjab summoned Punjab Assembly session on Dec 21 (tomorrow), asking Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi to get vote of confidence.

Talking to reporters informally, Sibtain Khan said the Punjab Assembly was already in session, hence a new session couldn’t be summoned. He further said that the current session was summoned by the Speaker, and the same could either be adjourned, or resumed tomorrow subject to the availability of business, if any.

He said if the Governor was so fond of Punjab Assembly session, he could convene the same in ‘Aiwan-e-Iqbal’.
