The Lahore Sessions Court on Tuesday sentenced the convict involved in the stage dancer’s murder case to death and a fine of Rs 5 lakh.
Additional Sessions Judge Chaudhry Shahid Amin pronounced the verdict in the murder case. The Iqbal Town Police Station registered a case against the crime in 2022.
The prosecution recorded the statements of 18 witnesses in the case. The convict was accused of shooting and killing stage dancer Shazia and injuring her two sisters.
After reviewing the evidence of all the witnesses, the court sentenced the convict Waris to death and a fine of Rs 5 lakh. After the verdict, the convict was shifted to the death cell.
Earlier this month, female stage dancer Chanda Ali was raped and murdered in Punjab’s Okara district. The body of the victim was found in the 34-J area under the jurisdiction of Gogera Police Station.
The victim was a stage dancer who had come from Arifwala to perform at a Mehndi function. She was from the Pakpattan district
Unknown assailants allegedly shot and killed her, later dumping her body in nearby fields during the night before fleeing the scene. Family members claimed that she was raped before being murdered.
