The federal government has announced allocations for several development projects in Karachi in the upcoming fiscal year budget, with funds directed towards infrastructure, water supply, transport, and drainage schemes across multiple districts of the city.
According to budget documents, Rs7.5 billion has been allocated for the Karachi Urban Infrastructure Development Package.
Rs10 billion has been earmarked for the Greater Karachi Water Bulk Supply Scheme, while Rs10 million has been set aside for the Karachi Coastal Power Project Units 1 and 2.
The documents further show that Rs1.98 billion has been allocated for the Green Line Bus project. Funds have also been reserved for multiple road, street, drainage, and water supply schemes across the city.
For infrastructure rehabilitation in District West, Rs245.4 million has been allocated, while Rs220 million has been set aside for rehabilitation works in Nazimabad and Liaquatabad.
In Landhi and Korangi, Rs200 million has been allocated for roads, water supply, drainage systems, and playgrounds under various development initiatives.
Moreover, Rs45 million has been earmarked for roads, streets, water supply, and drainage projects in District Central, while Rs50 million has been allocated for similar works in District Malir.
