BARCELONA: The latest research has stated the people who suffer from insufficient sleep are at greater risk of increasing body weight.
A medical study in Spain has stated in research that people working at night shifts mostly suffer from sleep deprivation, such habit leads to obesity.
Such people likely consume most of their diet at night. The body is not habitual to digesting processed foods, resulting in the growth of excess fat.
Sleeping less sets your brain up to make bad decisions. It dulls activity in the brain that impulse control. Moreover, a sleep-deprived brain may have trouble saying no to the second slice of cake.
The study states that sleeping too little prompts people to eat bigger portions of all foods, increasing weight gain. A lack of sleep leads to increased cravings for energy-dense, high-carbohydrate foods.
Some of the healthy habits to prevent insufficient sleep are mentioned below:
Do not consume caffeine at night.
Avoid eating and drinking heavily at least 3 hours before your bedtime.
Maintain regularity about bedtime and wake up time.
Exercise regularly but not 4 hours before bed.
Limit daytime naps to less than 30 minutes.
