A father shot and killed his daughter, Fatima, and her friend in what police suspect to be an honor killing, in the Rifaa Aam Society area of Malir, Karachi. It was reported on Tuesday.
The suspect, identified as Azhar, was arrested on the spot by law enforcement after the incident.
According to police reports, the shooting took place on the upper floor of a house in the Rifaa Aam Society, where the bodies of 18-year-old Fatima and a young man, aged around 20, were found with gunshot wounds to the head. The police stated that Azhar allegedly killed both individuals after discovering them together.
A pistol, two spent shell casings, and a coin were recovered from the crime scene. Azhar was immediately arrested, and the firearm was seized by authorities. Initial investigations suggest that the killings were motivated by honor-related issues, although the police are examining all aspects of the case.
SHO Muhammad Ali Marwat of Al-Falah Police Station confirmed that both victims were shifted to a hospital for post-mortem examination. Authorities also revealed that Fatima had recently dropped out of school.
