The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast rain and snowfall in several regions of the country today, bringing a mix of cold and wet weather.
According to the department, northwestern Balochistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit-Baltistan are expected to experience rain and snowfall, with potential disruptions in traffic due to slippery conditions.
In the northern areas, snowfall is expected in cities like Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, and Pishin, along with regions in Gilgit-Baltistan such as Chitral, Dir, and Swat. These areas may see road blockages due to heavy snow, and the Meteorological Department has issued a warning of hazardous conditions for travelers.
In Islamabad and surrounding areas, the weather will remain cold with partially cloudy skies. The majority of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is also expected to experience cold temperatures, with light rain and snow in higher regions like Chitral, Dir, and Swat, along with strong winds.
Meanwhile, Punjab is expected to remain cold and dry, with dense fog likely to affect areas like Lahore, Sialkot, Faisalabad, and Bahawalpur during the night. Sindh will experience cold and dry conditions, but no significant rain is anticipated.
The department also warned of the possibility of landslides in the mountainous regions of Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, especially as rainfall may lead to flooding in parts of Balochistan. Additionally, fog is expected to persist in various districts of Punjab and upper Sindh, including Lahore and Sheikhupura.
Overall, the weather in most of the country will remain cold, with intermittent rain and snowfall in the north. The public is advised to stay updated on weather warnings and exercise caution when traveling, particularly in the affected regions.
