The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has submitted a request to NEPRA for a refund of 1 rupee and 3 paisas per unit to consumers as part of the fuel price adjustment for the month of December.
According to CPPA, a total of 7.516 billion units of electricity were delivered to DISCOs during this period.
In December, the fuel cost per unit of electricity was recorded at Rs9 and 60 paisas, while the projected cost was Rs10 and 63 paisas per unit.
A hearing to discuss the refund request is set for January 30.
In its report, CPPA noted that the sources of electricity generation in December included 22.80% from hydropower and 10.06% from indigenous coal.
Additionally, 1.59% of the electricity was produced from imported coal, 0.03% from furnace oil, 12.31% from local gas, and 20.70% from LNG.
Significantly, nuclear energy contributed to 26.48% of the total electricity generation in December.
