Rain in Peshawar on Monday further intensified the cold, prompting residents to return to warm clothing after a brief respite from the harsh winter.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast additional temperature drops in the city, with the possibility of snowfall in the upper regions. Areas such as Naran, Kaghan, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Shangla, and Gilgit-Baltistan are expected to experience fresh snowfall.
Officials have also issued warnings about the risk of landslides in the mountainous areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan, advising both residents and travelers to take extra precautions.
With temperatures already well below freezing in the winter-affected regions, the severe cold continues to grip the northern belt.
Authorities remain on high alert as these wintry conditions are expected to persist over the coming days.
