Karachi: The Sindh government has decided to publish the names of tax evaders in newspapers.
According to details, a high-level session was chaired by Sindh’s Senior Minister, Sharjeel Inam Memon. Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control Secretary Saleem Rajpoot, Director General Aurangzeb Ponor, directors, and other officers were present at the session.
Sharjeel Inam stated that tax evaders are enemies of the country’s prosperity and they will not be forgiven under any circumstances. Initiatives will also be taken to freeze the bank accounts of tax evaders.
He appreciated the continuous crackdown against drug suppliers in the province and directed immediate action against tax evaders.
However, Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam also emphasized that the concerned departments will cooperate at all times. There will be zero tolerance for tax evaders, and no leniency will be shown towards them.
It is worth mentioning that Pakistan is currently facing a financial crunch and aims to expand the tax net, as the number of individuals paying direct taxes is very low.
