Pakistan’s aspirations for technological advancement are taking a giant leap forward with the imminent establishment of its first digital city, marking a monumental achievement spurred by the relentless efforts of the Special Investment Council (SIC).
In a momentous turn of events, the Special Technology Zones Authority (STZA) has inked a pivotal agreement with the KP IT Board, signaling the green light for this groundbreaking venture.
The agreement, sealed by Amir Salimi, the Executive Director of Zones at STZA, and Dr. Akif, Managing Director of the KP IT Board, amidst the presence of dignitaries from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government, STZA, and KPIT Board, paves the way for the establishment of the Pakistan Digital City.
Haripur has been chosen as the strategic location for this pioneering initiative, with the project slated to unfold across an expansive eleven-acre expanse, estimated to cost around eight billion rupees. The digital city is poised to spring to life by the year 2026.
Encompassing a cutting-edge technology infrastructure spanning an impressive 480,000 square feet, the Pakistan Digital City holds the promise of generating over 4,000 high-tech job opportunities, ushering in a new era of employment prospects for the country’s skilled workforce.
Furthermore, the Pakistan Digital City is forecasted to make substantial contributions to the economy, with annual exports expected to range between three to five million dollars. This economic injection stands as a testament to the transformative potential of digital innovation in propelling Pakistan towards sustainable growth and prosperity.
