Karachi: In the fourth round of the President Trophy Cricket Tournament, Ghani Glass defeated Higher Education by 161 runs, while SNGPL (Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited) defeated KRL (Khan Research Laboratories) by 8 wickets. The highlight of today’s match was Mohammad Rameez’s 10-wicket haul for Ghani Glass and Kamran Ghulam’s century, along with Azhar Ali’s 93 not out for SNGPL.
Higher Education had set a target of 479 runs against Ghani Glass at the UBL Sports Complex. However, on the third day of the match, they had scored 276 runs, losing 6 wickets, and still needed 203 runs to win with 4 wickets remaining.
On the final day of the match, Higher Education’s team was all out for 317 runs, adding only 41 runs to their overnight total. Adil Meo, who scored 75 not out in the previous day’s play, couldn’t add to his score.
Leg-spinner Mohammad Rameez bowled exceptionally well, taking 5 wickets for 81 runs. In the first innings, he had also taken 5 wickets for 60 runs.
In the match against KRL at the National Bank Stadium, SNGPL had a target of 232 runs, which they achieved with a loss of 2 wickets. Kamran Ghulam scored 101 not out with the help of eleven boundaries and three sixes. Azhar Ali, after scoring 140 in the first innings, contributed 93 not out in the second innings. Their partnership added 185 runs.
Before KRL’s second innings, they were all out for 299 runs. Mubashir Khan took 4 wickets, giving away 35 runs, and Aarif Yaqoob also took 4 wickets, conceding 108 runs.
The fifth round of the President Trophy will commence on January 9th. The PTVC (Pakistan Television Corporation) match against Higher Education Commission will take place at the State Bank Stadium.
SNGPL and WAPDA teams will clash at the UBL Sports Complex, while KRL and State Bank will play at the National Bank Stadium.
