The Meteorological Department has forecast a heatwave in Karachi from Sunday, during which the temperature is likely to reach 40 degrees Celsius.
The Met Office said that a heatwave is likely to begin in Karachi from Sunday (tomorrow), with the day temperature reaching 40 degrees Celsius, which is 4 to 6 degrees Celsius higher than usual.
Senior Meteorologist Anjum Nazir Zeigham explained that the sea breezes are likely to stop from Sunday due to the high-pressure area moving away from the upper and central regions of Sindh.
He said that the movement of the weather system towards the southern areas of the province (today) will help reduce the ongoing heatwave in the rest of the province from Saturday.
The advisory of the Meteorological Department said that due to the heat wave in Karachi, the general public, especially children, women and senior citizens, are advised to take precautionary measures, avoid direct exposure to sunlight and drink plenty of water.
On Friday, the maximum temperature in the city was recorded at 34.3 degrees Celsius, on Saturday the maximum temperature is likely to be 36 to 38 degrees Celsius, during which hot and humid weather is expected.
On Friday, Dadu and Shaheed Benazirabad remained the hottest cities in the province with 46.5 degrees Celsius, followed by Padidan (46 degrees), Larkana (45.6 degrees), Mohenjo-Daro and Khairpur (45.5 degrees), Sukkur and Rohri (45 degrees), Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas (42 degrees), and Badin (39 degrees).
