LAHORE: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has issued a fresh alert regarding the water flow in the province’s rivers, stating that while most rivers are currently at normal levels, a low-level flood situation persists in certain areas of the Chenab River, with fears of rising water levels in the coming days.
According to a PDMA spokesperson, low-level flooding has been recorded at Khanki and Qadirabad along the Chenab River. The water inflow at Khanki stands at 125,000 cusecs, with an outflow of 117,000 cusecs, while at Qadirabad, the inflow is 146,000 cusecs and the outflow is 127,000 cusecs.
The spokesperson confirmed that water flow remains normal at other key points, including:
– Chenab River: Marala, Trimo, and Panjnad
– Ravi River: Jasar, Shahdara, Head Sudhanai, and Baloki
– Sutlej River: Ganda Singh Wala, Sulemanki, and Head Islam
– Indus River: Tarbela, Kala Bagh, Taunsa, and Chashma

## Flood Warnings and Risks
The PDMA has issued a warning of rising water levels in Punjab’s rivers by July 24, with a high risk of flooding in rivers adjacent to the Ravi and Chenab, including:
– Basantar
– Deg
– Ek
– Palkho
– Bhimbar
– Halsi
– Dora
Additionally, a flash flooding warning has been issued for the rivers in Dera Ghazi Khan.
Urban flooding risks have also been highlighted for the following divisions:
– Lahore
– Gujranwala
– Sialkot
– Sargodha
– Okara
– Sahiwal
– Bahawalnagar
– Rawalpindi
Government Response and Public Advisory
DG PDMA Omar Abbas Mela has urged citizens residing on riverbanks and in low-lying areas to immediately relocate to safer locations. He emphasized that the Punjab government has established flood relief camps in potentially affected areas, where evacuees will be provided with basic facilities, food, and medical assistance.
The PDMA says it continues to monitor the situation closely and has advised the public to stay vigilant and follow official updates.
