RAWALPINDI: Family members of the 12-year-old sexual abuse victim Iqra Fatima are continuing to face life threats from the accused party despite warning local police authorities.
According to the victim’s mother, the accused persons are allegedly pressurizing the police in order to halt the investigation.
The victim’s mother claimed that the accused persons have direct links with RPO Rawalpindi and PTI Minister Shehryar Afridi. The accused persons are the residents of Hangu Kohat.
She further said that Muhammad Zain, the investigating officer had allegedly received Rs 300,000 as a bribe from the accused persons. “We have not received the medical reports of the DNA yet,” she said.
“Another investigating officer Azhar Gondal in his investigation report showed my 12-year-old daughter as a woman,” she claimed. The victim’s mother also said, “Azhar Gondal also threatened my daughter and recorded a false statement of her.”
“I understand that we are a poor family with little chance of securing justice, however, I appeal to Prime Minister Imran Khan to provide protection to my family and take stern action against the accused persons,” She added.
A large number of rape cases in Pakistan go unreported, calculating the actual number of rapes in the country on a yearly basis is close to impossible.
