KARACHI: The Gharo Pumping Station has been shut down after K-Electric suspended its power supply due to a scheduled technical shutdown at the Gharo Grid Transmission facility.
According to a spokesperson for the Water Corporation, technical work is underway at the Gharo Grid Transmission facility, due to which the pumping station will remain out of operation for around 11 hours. The power supply is expected to remain suspended until 7pm.
The spokesperson said the power outage would result in a shortfall of around 30 million gallons of water in the city. The Water Corporation normally supplies approximately 650 million gallons of water daily; however, around 620 million gallons will be supplied today despite the power disruption.
The temporary power outage will partially affect water supply to Bin Qasim, Shah Faisal, PNS Mehran, PAF Base Faisal and Karsaz, the spokesperson said.
According to the Water Corporation, water supply will return to normal once power is restored.
