A man posing as a National Assembly Secretariat official has been arrested, according to a spokesperson for the National Assembly.
The spokesperson said the suspect, Abdul Wajid, a resident of Ghotki, falsely claimed to be an employee of the National Assembly Secretariat and impersonated a Grade-17 officer.
According to the spokesperson, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested Abdul Wajid after discovering he was carrying a fake National Assembly Secretariat appointment letter bearing forged signatures of the Speaker.
The spokesperson added that the suspect had allegedly used the fake identity to obtain unlawful privileges and official protocol.
Action was initiated immediately on the Speaker’s instructions after the matter surfaced through public complaints and social media.
The National Assembly spokesperson clarified that Abdul Wajid has no affiliation with the National Assembly and that there is no record of his appointment.
The statement emphasized that forging official documents or impersonating the Speaker, the National Assembly, or any government office is a serious criminal offense.
The public has been urged to remain vigilant against such fraudsters and to verify the authenticity of any documents claiming to be issued by the National Assembly Secretariat.
