JHELUM: At least eight people were killed and six others suffered severe injuries when a dumper collided with a passenger van at Gharibwal village of Jhelum district on Saturday.
According to police sources, a moving-fast dumper truck collided with a passenger van at Gharibwal village. As a result, eight people killed and six others sustained severe injuries.
Sources further said the incident caused due to over speeding. The ill-fated van was carrying cement factory workers, sources added.
Rescue officials, after being informed, rushed to the scene and shifted the bodies and the injured to the nearby hospital.
Taking notice of the incident, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar expressed sorrow over the loss of lives and sought a report from the administration. He said the injured should be provided with the best medical facilities.
Federal Minister for Science and Technology and MNA from Jhelum, Fawad Chaudhry, also expressed sorrow over the loss of lives in the tragic accident and prayed for the early recovery of injured passengers.

On August 2, at least two people had been killed while several others sustained injuries when a car collided with a van at Hasilpur Road near Bahawalpur district of Punjab. According to rescue officials, the incident caused due to over speeding.
