Five members of a family were reportedly killed in an alleged drone strike in upper South Waziristan on Tuesday.
According to details, a resident of Waziristan (@Alamzaibpk) shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, that an entire family of five was decimated in a drone attack in his village, Tangi Badinzai.
“Five members of the same family perished in the assault. The affected family had relocated to their ancestral home in Waziristan from Tank due to escalating heat,” wrote another local, Farooq Mahsud (@MahsudFarooQ).
However, the local administration has neither confirmed nor refuted the incidnet thus far.
It’s worth mentioning that the US has conducted a total of 409 drone strikes in Pakistan since January 2004, resulting in the deaths of 2,714 individuals and injuries to 728 others, according to media reports.
These strikes have targeted various regions including Bajaur, Bannu, Hangu, Khyber, Kurram, Mohmand, North Waziristan, Nushki, Orakzai, and South Waziristan, as per Dawn’s report.
The majority of these drone attacks occurred during the tenure of the Pakistan Peoples Party government between 2008 and 2012.
