“ECNEC just approved the Rs. 20.7 billion infrastructure project for KCR. PM @ImranKhanPTI will be the chief guest at the groundbreaking ceremony for the project in Karachi next week inshallah,” he tweeted.

A new track without a gate will be laid for New Karachi Circular Railway and the train will arrive at the station every six minutes. The project is expected to benefit 3 to 5 lakh passengers daily.

The plan for the inner city rail service was first proposed in 1976 to solve the problem of public transport in the country’s largest city and to connect important places.

The feasibility of the project has been reviewed several times and approved in various forums, but it has never been put into practice. The Karachi Circular Railway project will be completed in partnership with the private sector.
