Strong earthquake tremors were felt across several major cities in Pakistan, including Peshawar, Islamabad, Lahore, Mianwali, Rawalpindi, Sheikhupura, Sargodha, and Sialkot, prompting residents to evacuate their homes in fear.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, significant tremors were reported in Peshawar, Mardan, Haripur, and surrounding areas, causing widespread panic among residents. Similar tremors were also experienced across multiple districts of Punjab, including Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Lahore, Mianwali, Sheikhupura, Sargodha, and Sialkot.
The Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) released a preliminary report confirming that earthquake tremors were felt in Lahore, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Mianwali, Multan, the Pothohar region, and several other districts across the province.
According to seismic data, the earthquake measured 5.9 on the Richter scale. Its epicenter was located in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan, at a depth of 191 kilometers.
The Director General of PDMA stated that the relevant authorities are conducting inspections of buildings to assess any potential damage.
The Provincial Control Room and District Emergency Operation Centers across Punjab remain operational 24/7. Citizens have been advised to report any earthquake-related damage by calling the PDMA helpline at 1129.
