LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and Anti-Corruption Punjab has sought records from the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Mayo Hospital, Dr. Asad Aslam on the charges of a fake degree, abuse of power and corruption.
According to details, the records were sought at the complaint of a citizen, who earlier filed an application with NAB Anti-Corruption Punjab. In the complaint, it claimed that CEO Asad Aslam had not passed the required examination of Ph.D.
The Higher Education Commission also did not confirm Dr. Asad Aslam’s Ph.D. degree. Meanwhile, Governor Punjab Secretariat has also sought an explanation from Dr. Asad Aslam on the fake degree case.
Relevant sources have informed that Dr. Asad Aslam has held more than five additional positions for over four years, which cannot be held for more than six months as per the rules of the Punjab Finance Department.
The additional posts include CEO of Mayo Hospital and Principal College of Ophthalmology, according to the application. As a government employee, Dr. Asad Aslam is also involved in the embezzlement of Rs 800 million.
