Contractors protest against PPWD over misusing its powers in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: A protest has been launched against Pakistan Public Works Department (PPWD) officials over misusing its powers against the contractors.

The contractors in Islamabad started the protest against the illegal efforts of the Department’s Superintendent as they tried to run the business by benefitting its party.

Contractors were called through regular advertisements in two newspapers.

Superintendent Riaz-ud-Din earlier proposed a deal to the contractors that whoever places the price of the given tender cheapest would be the one chosen for the upcoming project.

All the contractors decided mutually over the deal of fixing the cheapest price for the project in order to get a tender.

But later instead of choosing the contractor who placed the cheapest price for the tender as discussed earlier, the superintendent tried to persuade the competing contractors to make a decision by placing slips choosing the designated one through it.

According to credible sources, the superintendent allegedly wanted to benefit a contractor named Chaudhry Mubarak Ali, but Messrs Mack, Riaz and Sons, Hassan Engineers and Multi-Tech engineers there protested strongly against this behavior.
