Actor Chris Pratt who has been facing backlash for his casting in The Super Mario Bros. Movie finally addressed it and said that he totally understands.
It was announced in September of 2021 that Chris Pratt would play the titular video game character garnering criticism for various reasons. It turns out some social media users are not fans of Chris, with many feeling that he’s already overexposed.
However, Chris was not daunted by the backlash. In fact, he said that he totally understands the concern people have when it comes to someone new playing the beloved character.

“There is a passionate fan base and I’m one of the fans. I get it,” Chris said by adding, “Mostly, people don’t want something like this to get screwed up. They’re precious about it and I’m grateful for that.”
The Super Mario Bros. Movie is an upcoming computer-animated fantasy film based on Nintendo’s Mario video game franchise. The ensemble voice cast includes Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, Jack Black, Keegan-Michael Key, Seth Rogen, Fred Armisen, Sebastian Maniscalco, Charles Martinet, and Kevin Michael Richardson. The Super Mario Bros. Movie is scheduled for release on April 5, 2023.
