WASHINGTON: US President Joe Biden has warned of a very dangerous situation without a cease-fire agreement in Gaza until Ramadan, saying that it is up to Hamas to accept the agreement or not.
The 81-year-old president, talking to reporters, said that the Israelis are cooperating with the ceasefire agreement, but the matter is now in the hands of Hamas. The future situation will be known in a couple of days, but we need a ceasefire.
Biden has told his ally Israel that ‘no excuses’ will work to allow more aid to Gaza. He further said that there must be a ceasefire, if we reach a situation where it lasts till Ramadan, Israel and Jerusalem can be very dangerous.
Biden’s statement comes as frustration grows over rising aid needs and civilian casualties in Gaza, while the United States last week urged Israel to allow Muslims to worship at the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem during Ramadan.
