After the news of audio leaks broke out in Islamabad, questions are being raised about national security issues, while Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has said that the investigation will find out whether the security of the Prime Minister’s House has been breached or not. The security of the Prime Minister’s House has become a question mark since the audio recording has come out on social media while more recordings are expected to be leaked in the coming days.
Around the world, the Prime Minister, President of the State, Federal Ministers and other important government officials often sit and discuss various issues in the Prime Minister’s House, the President’s House, the Parliament House or any other government building with security agencies it is safe for them to do so. Such actions by intelligence agencies and government agencies are aimed at limiting the discussion of sensitive matters to a certain circle and conveying to the public only those that lead to consensus and decisions.
The failure to ensure this safety in Pakistan’s most guarded quarters is a serious cause of concern. It is high time the country’s political leadership investigate the source of the leak instead of using the audio for their own political gains.
