KARACHI: Local residents of Lyari stormed into the office of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) to register their protest against prolonged power outages and gas shortages in their area.
According to details gathered by MM news, a group of people staged protest outside the PPP’s South office in Lyari – a stronghold of the Sindh’s ruling political party, blocking the road and chanting slogans against the party.
The protesters gathered outside the office over complaints of gas shortage and prolonged load-sheddings. They also had complaints that the area hadn’t been receiving water for as long as nine months.
The anger of the local residents ran high during the course of protest after alleged aerial firing by senior PPP leader Khalil Hout and his workers, which led the protesters to storm the office. The protesters also vandalised and destroyed the office furniture.
Police are reported to have registered case and apprehended some 14 suspects for vandalizing the office of the ruling party.
