KARACHI: Residents of Pakistan’s economic hub are set to receive a major relief as the federal Ministry of Interior has formally announced the establishment of the country’s largest Grand Khidmat Markaz in Karachi.
The initiative is aimed at providing a wide range of essential public services under one roof, potentially saving citizens from the need to visit multiple government departments for different services.
The decision was announced during a visit by Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi to the Ministry of Interior’s office on I.I. Chundrigar Road in Karachi.
According to details, the state-of-the-art one-stop facility will feature dedicated counters for a range of essential services, including the Passport Office, National Identity Card services, NADRA Direct, issuance and renewal of arms licences, and various No Objection Certificates (NOCs).
The facility is being planned as a comprehensive public service centre where citizens will be able to access multiple government services at a single location.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has directed the authorities to proceed with the project on a priority basis and has sought a comprehensive master plan for the Grand Khidmat Markaz within the next 10 days.
He instructed the relevant authorities to ensure that public convenience, accessibility and modern requirements remain the top priorities while preparing the master plan.
In connection with the project, the Ministry of Interior has also directed the concerned authorities to immediately finalise all administrative and technical arrangements.
The ministry aims to complete the necessary preparations and open the mega service centre for the public in the shortest possible time.
