WASHINGTON: About three million people in the United States have lost their jobs due to the lockdown placed to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease that has affected more than 82,000, people in the US.
According to the information collection last week, 33 million people had faced unemployment which is five times higher than the previous record that left 695,000 people unemployed in 1982.
In the US, there are restaurants, bars, cinemas, hotels and gyms that have been closed to control the spread of the coronavirus, which has led to unemployment. The car manufacturers have reduced their production in this regard.
According to the economists, the actual figures can be much higher. In the United States from 1966 to 2020, unemployment did not surge like this but in 2020, a major wave was witnessed.
The World Health Organization has warned that in the upcoming days, the United States could become the new center for the coronavirus as 82,000 people have been infected with the virus and 1,195 have been killed.
Due to the complete lockdown in three states i.e. California, New York, and Illinois, business centers have been shut down forcing people to become homeless. The total population of these three states is 7 million.
