Pakistan Railways has announced revised working hours for its reservation offices, extending the evening shift by an additional three hours.
According to details, the Karachi Division of Pakistan Railways has taken a significant step to improve ticketing and booking facilities for train passengers by issuing a formal notification regarding new duty timings for reservation office staff.
Under the revised schedule, the evening shift has been extended by three hours.
As per the notification, the morning shift at reservation offices in the Karachi Division will now run from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., while the evening shift will operate from 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 midnight. The night shift will continue uninterrupted from 12:00 midnight to 8:00 a.m.
Previously, the evening shift ended at 9:00 p.m., which has now been extended to midnight.
Railway officials said the primary objective of the decision is to facilitate passengers arriving during late hours, ensuring better access to ticketing and reservation services so that working individuals and other travellers can book seats more conveniently at different times of the day.
The notification also clarified that a break for Friday prayers will remain in place from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. as per routine practice.
The railway administration has issued strict instructions to all relevant officers and station staff in the Karachi Division to ensure immediate and strict compliance with the new timings, so that the public does not face any inconvenience.
