K-Electric announces maintenance shutdowns across Karachi on May 20

K-Electric has announced extensive planned maintenance shutdowns across Karachi for Wednesday, May 20, 2026, with dozens of feeders expected to remain without electricity for several hours during the day.

According to the utility company, the shutdowns are part of scheduled maintenance and infrastructure improvement work aimed at enhancing the stability and reliability of the city’s power distribution network.

The maintenance schedule includes residential neighbourhoods, industrial zones, pumping stations, commercial centres and RMUs across different parts of Karachi.

Power suspensions are expected to begin from as early as 7:01am and continue until 7:59pm in certain areas.

K-Electric has advised consumers residing in the affected areas to make necessary arrangements during the maintenance period to minimise inconvenience.

The utility company regularly carries out planned shutdowns to facilitate repair work, upgrade infrastructure and improve electricity supply reliability across Karachi
