The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced the launch of a nationwide “Go Cashless” campaign aimed at promoting digital payments during Eidul Adha.

According to the central bank, the initiative is intended to reduce cash-based transactions at livestock markets and encourage the use of modern banking systems. Officials said 54 cattle markets will be included in the campaign during 2025, while the number is expected to increase to 96 in 2026.

In a statement, the SBP said that 22 banks will establish special camps at livestock markets to facilitate buyers and traders. Payment services through QR codes, Raast and mobile banking platforms will also be made available.

The central bank further stated that traders, transporters and other service providers associated with livestock markets would be integrated into the digital financial system.

To support the initiative, temporary relaxations in transaction and account balance limits have also been introduced from 14 May to 5 June.

The SBP added that mobile banking vans, ATMs and cash deposit machines would be installed at cattle markets across the country to enable buyers and sellers to carry out transactions more conveniently and securely.
