In Karachi’s Korangi area, Mehran Town, a 23-year-old woman named Rabia, who was set on fire by her husband, has died. The police have arrested her husband.
According to details, the victim’s family stated that on March 14, following a dispute, Rabia’s husband Waqas doused her with petrol and set her on fire. She had been battling for her life at the Burns Centre in Civil Hospital but could not survive.
Doctors at the Burns Centre reported that Rabia’s face and chest were severely affected, with 50% of her body burned. After several months of struggling between life and death, her body was handed over to the family following legal procedures.

Meanwhile, the Korangi Industrial Area Police have arrested Waqas and registered a case against him. The suspect has been sent to jail. Investigating officers stated that with Rabia’s death, murder charges will now be added to the case.
During the investigation, the role of Waqas’s father also came to light in the incident. Police said that if his involvement is proven, he will also be arrested. They are working on building a strong case to ensure the suspect receives a severe sentence from the court.
