Just ahead of Earth Day, Amazon Prime Video has released the trailer for Octopus!, a quirky and compelling new original series that defies traditional genre boundaries.
According to details, though it initially appears to be a documentary, the streaming platform classifies it as an original series, and it’s unlike anything you’ve seen before. Narrated by Emmy Award-winning creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag), Octopus! promises a strange, humorous, and deeply human journey through the world of one of Earth’s most mysterious creatures.
Described as “a story about being murdered by your lover, getting lost in Mexico, finding a unicorn, a competitive quilter, Tracy Morgan, and exploring our connection with a possible alien,” the two-episode series blends absurdist storytelling with serious scientific exploration.
The series dives into humanity’s fascination with octopuses, creatures that are as charismatic as they are alien. In one standout quote from the trailer, a voice notes: “I really don’t know why they are so sexy for people at the moment. I think that they’re very charismatic—even though they’re very ugly.”
Octopus! premieres globally on May 8 exclusively on Prime Video, available in over 240 countries and territories. Both episodes will be available to stream on launch day.
