Saudi Arabia has declared that people holding various types of visas are now authorized to embark on Umrah, the minor pilgrimage, with convenience.
The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, in a recent announcement, stated, “Travelers from any origin and with any visa can now easily perform Umrah.”
The ministry emphasized that Umrah rituals are open to holders of all visa categories, including personal, family, transit, labor, and e-visas.
Pilgrims are urged to utilize the Nusuk app to acquire an Umrah permit and adhere to designated schedules for the rituals at the Grand Mosque in Mecca, the holiest site in Islam.
In recent times, the kingdom has introduced numerous amenities for overseas Muslims to come to the country for Umrah.
These measures are geared towards accommodating millions of Muslims worldwide who undertake Umrah, especially those who may face obstacles in participating in the annual Hajj pilgrimage due to physical or financial constraints.
Recent enhancements include extending the Umrah visa duration from 30 to 90 days, permitting entry through all land, air, and sea ports, and abolishing the requirement for women pilgrims to be accompanied by male guardians. Moreover, expatriates in Gulf Cooperation Council countries and holders of Schengen, US, and UK visas can now schedule Umrah appointments via the Nusuk app prior to their arrival in Saudi Arabia.
