A new name has emerged in the IPL spotlight as Mayank Rawat made his debut for Mumbai Indians, marking a major milestone in a career shaped by persistence and late resurgence.
The 26-year-old all-rounder from Delhi was picked at his base price of INR 30 lakh and now shares the dressing room with some of the league’s biggest stars.
Rawat’s rise to attention began during the 2024 Delhi Premier League, where he produced a stunning finish by hitting five sixes in the final over for East Delhi Riders against South Delhi Superstarz, with the over bowled by Ayush Badoni.

Despite early promise, including remarkable scores of 220 and 244 at the Under-14 level, Rawat struggled for years to break into the professional circuit. His domestic T20 record remains modest, with 114 runs in eight innings at a strike rate of 123, alongside a notable bowling performance of 3-5 in the 2024/25 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
His IPL debut came as Mumbai Indians reshuffled their lineup due to injuries ahead of a clash with Punjab Kings.
Rawat is regarded as an aggressive middle-order batter, whose recent performances signal the arrival of a determined and hard-hitting T20 prospect.
