Another deeply disturbing incident has emerged from Palestine, in which even the sanctity of prayer was not spared from violence.
An Israeli soldier deliberately ran over an unarmed Palestinian man who was offering prayers by the roadside, an act that has raised serious questions for people of conscience worldwide.
The incident occurred near the city of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank, where a reserve member of the Israeli army struck a Palestinian man with an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) while he was engaged in prayer.
Video footage of the incident has spread rapidly on social media, triggering widespread outrage internationally. The Israeli army has confirmed the incident.
According to military officials, the individual involved was an armed reserve soldier who was in civilian clothing at the time.
Authorities described the act as a serious violation, stating that the soldier was immediately suspended and his weapon confiscated.
The injured Palestinian man is currently receiving treatment in hospital.
Local media reports that the reserve soldier has been arrested and placed in judicial custody for five days.
The Israeli military has said a full investigation is under way, while the incident has once again raised serious concerns regarding the protection of Palestinian civilians and respect for human rights.
