Tehran: Maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz is facing growing risks amid rising tensions between Iran and the United States. The Iranian Navy has claimed that it targeted three oil tankers and three other vessels linked to the United States in response to US attacks.

According to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the latest escalation began when US forces attacked three Iranian oil tankers, causing damage to the vessels. Iranian officials said the country’s naval forces then carried out retaliatory attacks against ships linked to US interests.

Iranian authorities have issued a strong warning to vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz, urging them to avoid unauthorized maritime routes. Tehran has also rejected US claims that the Strait remains open and that ships can continue to pass through it normally.

The IRGC warned that vessels attempting to cross the Strait through alternative routes without proper authorization could face military action.

According to Iranian officials, normal maritime activity in the Strait of Hormuz can only be fully restored if the United States ends its naval and economic blockade. Iran has also called for a permanent end to military operations in the region, saying this is necessary for the complete restoration of normal conditions in the Strait of Hormuz.
