Unsafe reporting

Till the last day, various news related to Cyclone Bipper Joy continued to spread panic among the people, and several people were also shifted to safe places.

The Sindh government appeared to be very active on the occasion of the arrival of the cyclone. Climate Change Minister Sherry Rehman also held a press conference on the cyclone, but now this cyclone has weakened and turned into a severe depression.

Recently, female reporter Zamzam  Saeed, who was reporting on the cyclone, was criticized by the public on social media for her unsafe reporting. A leading actress said that her reporting was an excuse to get likes.

He also said that journalists instruct the public to take safety measures to avoid the storm, but they risk their lives for some likes and clicks. The public also called the act of the female reporter an excuse to become famous.

Regardless of how dangerous a hurricane is, journalists’ job is to bring the truth to the public. In this struggle, many journalists never hesitate to risk their lives, such journalists reach Afghanistan to report on terrorism.

How many journalists have lost their lives while performing their professional duties, but the process is still the same, and many journalists, being emotional to show the truth to the public, take steps that put their lives in danger.  

Due to the storm, several feet high waves arose in Karachi and sea water entered the houses in some areas. Several shops and businesses were also affected by the seawater.

On the one hand, it cannot be considered responsible in any way that the waves of water completely drown a reporter of a TV channel or web TV while reporting and on the other hand, his life is also threatened.

It is important that the media channels give clear instructions to their reporters and journalists that if there are threats to their lives, the reporting of the incidents can be done from a distance or by interviewing the people who have passed through such incidents.

It is not necessary for journalists to go live to cover every incident, however, seeing the rush of people on live streams, media channels can force journalists to undertake such an adventure. Before criticizing any female reporter, the public should also consider her possible constraints.
