KARACHI: The body of a 7-year-old boy was found near the Cardio hospital Federal B Area Block 16 on Wednesday afternoon, police said.
A police team swiftly responded to an emergency call in Federal B Area Block-16, rushing to the scene where seven-year-old Abhan Mazhar lay injured. He was immediately transferred to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries. SHO Rao stated that Abhan was found alive initially, with witnesses recalling hearing his cries for help, prompting them to contact Madadgar-15.
Eyewitnesses informed authorities that upon hearing the commotion, they discovered the injured child. Despite his attempts to communicate, he was unable to speak. Notably, no suspects were spotted near the boy at the time of discovery.
The police disclosed that Abhan was located behind Cardio Hospital, with multiple police units actively pursuing the case, including efforts to retrieve CCTV footage. Hailing from Federal B Area Block 16, Abhan was a second-grade student and the middle child among three brothers. Relatives affirmed that he had left home two hours prior for unknown reasons, emphasizing that the family harbored no animosity towards anyone.
SHO Rao revealed that they had spoken to Mazhar, the grieving father, who revealed that Abhan attended a local private school. Due to his work commitments, Mazhar had arranged for a private individual to transport his son to and from school.
According to Mazhar, following his son’s return from school at 2 pm, Abhan briefly left the house in response to a knock on the door around 3:30 pm. Shockingly, the family received news of Abhan’s demise shortly thereafter. Mazhar reiterated that neither he nor his family had any known adversaries, and he was unaware of who could have perpetrated such a heinous act against his son.
Samanabad DSP Asghar Mehdi informed the media that Abhan passed away en route to the hospital. He noted that a woman residing in a nearby apartment initially spotted the child and raised an alarm for assistance. Investigations into the case are currently ongoing, with a formal report filed.
