Turkish drama ‘Ertugrul Ghazi’ gains immense popularity

KARACHI: The Turkish drama ‘Dirilish Ertugrul’, also known as Ertugrul Ghazi has gained 234,000 viewers in just one episode.
Based on the Islamic victories, ‘Dirilish Ertugrul’ was aired on Pakistan Television (PTV) from the 1st of Ramzan. The serial is already a huge success with the broadcast of its first episode which has received 318,000 views.
It has been reported that the drama has also been watched by more than 3 million people on YouTube so far. Last year, Prime Minister Imran Khan directed to air the Turkish Drama dubbed in Urdu in the country.
Prime Minister Imran Khan also issued a special message on the occasion of airing ‘Dirilish Ertugrul’ and termed the drama as close to not only Islamic but also Pakistani culture and history.
The serial was first aired in Turkey in 2014. The storyline pre-dates the rise of the Ottoman Empire in the 13th century and revolves around a brave Muslim general named Ertugrul, also known as ‘Ertugrul Ghazi’ who bravely fought the Mongols, the Crusaders, and the oppressors and maintained a series of victories. 
The drama has already been aired in 60 countries in different languages before it was presented in Urdu in Pakistan. The drama is based on five seasons and a total of 179 episodes.
