U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed condolences over the loss of lives in an attack at a tourist site in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, assuring India of full support, as reported by Indian media.
Earlier on Tuesday, 28 tourists were killed and 12 injured in a shooting by unidentified assailants at the tourist destination Pahalgam in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Indian authorities, among the deceased are two foreign tourists and an officer from the Indian Navy. The foreign nationals were from Italy and Israel.
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has confirmed that U.S. President Trump called Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the shooting incident in Occupied Kashmir.
A spokesperson for the Indian Ministry of External Affairs stated on social media platform X that President Trump strongly condemned the terrorist attack and assured India of full support in bringing those responsible to justice.
President Trump had earlier issued a statement on social media expressing sorrow over the shooting incident in Pahalgam, Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, saying he was deeply shocked by the news from Kashmir.
Trump stated that the United States stands with India against terrorism, and offered prayers for the quick recovery of the injured and condolences for those who lost their lives. He affirmed full support and sympathy for Prime Minister Modi and the people of India.
