Traffic plan unveiled for Pakistan Day parade rehearsal

ISLAMABAD: National Highways and Motorways Police have issued a traffic advisory in connection with Pakistan Day parade on March 23. 

All types of heavy transport vehicles (HTVs) will be barred from entering Islamabad during the March 23 parade. . The entry of freight HTVs for Islamabad will be closed on March 17, 19, 21 and 23 from 12:00 AM midnight to 2:00 PM.

The HTV vehicles coming to Islamabad from Peshawar Islamabad Motorway and Lahore-Islamabad Motorway will be barred from entering. The entry of heavy goods vehicles coming from the Grand Trunk road will also be closed for Islamabad.

City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi has finalised all the arrangements under a comprehensive traffic plan for full-dress rehearsal on March 17 (today) in connection with the Pakistan Day parade.

Rawalpindi Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rai Mazhar Iqbal, traffic from Faizabad to Rawalpindi and Islamabad would remain closed during the rehearsal from morning to conclusion of the rehearsal.

He said that all the traffic on Murree Road headed towards Islamabad would be directed to use diversion point of Double Road Chowk and 9th Avenue, whereas traffic coming from Koral Chowk would use Khanna Pull service road to enter Islamabad, after passing through Shamsabad via Double Road and 9th Avenue.

He added that heavy vehicles, including buses, trucks and trailers, would not be allowed to enter the city. Public transport vehicles coming from Murree would not be allowed to move towards the capital city from Lower Topa, Double Motorway Turn, Dana Mor, and Satra Mill toll plaza.

CTP Radio station 88.6 would organise special programs while the citizens can also use CTP helpline, he added.
