Spanish consumers and officials have ramped up pressure on brands seen as supporting Israel, particularly in response to recent testimonies from members of the Freedom Flotilla—an international group of activists seeking to deliver aid to Gaza.
According to flotilla participants, Israeli soldiers mocked global boycott efforts by deliberately consuming products from companies known to support the Israeli military—such as Coca-Cola and McDonald’s—in front of detained activists. The incident has intensified anger among pro-Palestinian groups and added fuel to ongoing boycott campaigns across Europe.

Several international activists who were detained and later deported by Israel after joining the Global Sumud Flotilla have also alleged mistreatment by prison guards during their detention, further raising concerns about Israel’s handling of peaceful protests.
Around 450 activists were arrested between Wednesday and Friday as Israeli forces intercepted the flotilla’s boats. The mission aimed to challenge Israel’s naval blockade on Gaza and deliver a symbolic amount of humanitarian aid to Palestinians in the besieged territory.
The Spanish have begun targeting brands that support Israel.

Earlier, the Spanish government announced on Tuesday that it will begin investigating companies advertising in Spain that import products or services from Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories. The measure follows a recently approved royal decree banning the promotion of such goods to prevent commercial benefits from what it describes as an illegal occupation.
