SHEIKHUPURA: A domestic dispute over electricity usage turned fatal in the outskirts of Ferozwala, Sheikhupura, as a young man opened fire on his family, killing his father and critically injuring his mother and sister.
The incident, fueled by tensions over soaring utility bills, has sent shock waves through the community and highlighted the growing desperation among citizens grappling with financial strain.
According to police reports, the accused, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, became enraged after his father refused to allow him to turn on the air conditioner. The father, fearing the escalating cost of electricity, had reportedly scolded his son for the request. In a fit of rage, the son allegedly retrieved a firearm and opened fire on his family members before fleeing the scene.
The father succumbed to his injuries at the scene, while the mother and sister were rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Rescue teams and a heavy police contingent arrived promptly after the incident was reported.
